Hélvio Neves Guerra is a Director at ANEEL (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica), a government agency responsible for regulating the electric power sector in Brazil. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal School of Engineering of Itajubá, a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution, and a PhD in Energy Systems Planning from Unicamp. Prior to becoming the Director of ANEEL, Guerra worked at the agency for 18 years in various positions including the Superintendencies of Hydrological Studies and Information, Tenders and Contract Control, and Concessions and Authorizations of Generation and Services Generation Inspection. He also held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Secretary of Planning and Energy Development at the Ministry of Mines and Energy and was President of the Special Commission for Tenders of ANEEL between 2006 and 2010.His current term as Director of ANEEL began on November 12, 2020 and will end on May 24, 2022, after which he is set to start a second term that will end on May 24, 2024.
