Dr. Adarsh Nagarajan is a globally recognized power systems expert and Strategic Initiatives Advisor at BRPL, known for his work at the intersection of advanced grid engineering and strategic energy planning. With deep expertise in modern power systems, he combines rigorous technical modeling with practical utility engagement to address the challenges of an evolving electricity grid. His work spans distribution system operations and planning, grid integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), including solar PV, energy storage systems, and electric vehicles, as well as system dynamics, protection, and control of low-inertia and inverter-based power systems.Dr. Nagarajan serves as a Principal Researcher and Group Manager at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), where he leads research and development on power systems design and planning, focusing on enabling reliable grid operations in a rapidly transforming energy landscape. He has supported several leading U.S. utilities—including TVA, SDG&E, HECO, SMUD, APS, SRP, and Duke Energy—in advancing planning frameworks and operational strategies for large-scale integration of renewable energy, storage, and electrified transportation.
