Dr. P. K. Vijayan is a distinguished nuclear scientist and expert in nuclear thermal hydraulics and reactor design, with over four decades of experience at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). He served as the Head of the Reactor Engineering Division and Director of the Reactor Design & Development Group at BARC, where he played a pivotal role in advancing research on natural circulation systems and passive safety technologies for nuclear reactors. Dr. Vijayan is widely recognized for his contributions to the thermal hydraulics of advanced reactor systems, including the safety and design aspects of the Advanced Heavy Water Reactor (AHWR). He holds a Ph.D. in Energy Systems Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and has authored numerous influential research publications on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), natural circulation phenomena, and reactor safety systems. Currently, he serves as Dean (Academics) and Honorary Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Jammu, where he continues to contribute to nuclear engineering education and research.
