P.K. Agarwal is a distinguished power sector professional with over 43 years of experience in electricity markets, grid operations, SCADA/WAMS, and cybersecurity. He began his career in 1981 as part of NTPC’s 6th batch of Executive Trainees and later transitioned to Powergrid. He retired in June 2020 as the Director and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Grid Controller of India Ltd (formerly POSOCO). Post-retirement, he has served as an advisor and consultant for international organizations, including USAID, MCC, Tetra Tech, and Innovative Wind Energy, USA, contributing to projects across Indonesia, West Africa, Bangladesh, Central Asia, and Kazakhstan. His expertise spans grid modernization, digitalization, cybersecurity, and power system SCADA. During his tenure at Grid-India, he led critical digitalization initiatives such as the Real-Time Market, National Open Access Registry (NOAR), and Ancillary Services. He played a pivotal role in developing India’s electricity markets, implementing cybersecurity frameworks, and pioneering WAMS technology through the URTDSM project. Additionally, he managed large SCADA and Renewable Energy Management Centers (REMC) projects. A prolific writer, P.K.
