Advisor-Energy NITI Aayog

Rajnath Ram is B.Tech in Petroleum Engineering from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad and MBA, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi University. He joined Government Service in 1997. He has rich experience spanning over 25 years in the Energy Sector. Presently, he is Adviser (Energy) in NITI Aayog looking after program and policies w.r.t Power, Renewable, Coal, Oil & Gas and Atomic Power. He is leading the initiatives on India Climate and Energy modelling, GIS mapping and Energy data Management in NITI Aayog. He possesses professional skills related to energy sector such as Public Policy/program analysis and report writing, policy formulation (Energy Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy), Scheme / project evaluation and appraisal, Technical safety standard formulation Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy Program and Policies, Bilateral cooperation / dialogues on Energy, Energy data management and India Energy dashboard. He coordinated and finalized India Energy Security Scenario – 2047 (v-2) energy model. His vast experience in the energy sector includes working on formulation of Energy Vision for country, assisting High Level Committee to finalize report on “Enhancing domestic exploration and production of oil & gas”. The government approved the policy in February 2019. He coordinated the finalisation of Integrated Energy Policy 2008. He was involved in finalizing the PLI scheme for high efficiency solar PV and modules manufacturing. He has been actively involved in the preparation of National Green Hydrogen Energy Mission. He is represented in various committees of Government including the Revamp Scheme of the Distribution Sector. He was part of strategic dialogue to India-China, India- US Energy Dialogue, India-Australia Energy Dialogue, Clean Energy Ministerial. Shri Rajnath Ram represented India for the Energy Transition Working Group in G20 meeting in Turkey. Shri Rajnath Ram headed various Technical sub-committees in PNGRB and finalised various pipelines related Regulatories including Emergency Response and Disaster Management Plan (ERDMP) for Oil & Gas Sector. Shri Ram played an important role in development of RE-Roadmap documents for 8 states, development of Energy Calculator for 6 states. He has done various study visits as Part of Indian Delegation on “Shale Gas Study to US, under Dr. Kasturirangan, ex-Chairman, ISRO to US for technology assessment w.r.t. to bioenergy and solar energy, regulatory system in US and w.r.t. to pipeline distribution system. He led the Indian subgroup on Energy Data Management under India-US Energy Dialogue 2015 held in Washington DC, bioethanol production and commerciality aspect with the support of the US Grains Council. Shri Rajnath Ram was engaged as a team member for organising Global Entrepreneurship Summit-2017 by NITI Aayog. Currently he is involved in the work related to SMR and Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage from NITI Aayog. Shri Rajnath Ram has been Director on the Board of NPCIL w.e.f. 25th August 2020.
