Sushmita Ajwani is the Director of Power & Renewables at ICF. She is a distinguished expert in this sector with nearly 18 years of experience in power advisory, specializing in corporate renewable energy procurement, open access markets, and renewable power procurement. She excels in navigating complex regulatory landscapes and developing innovative solutions to drive the transition towards sustainable energy. Her extensive expertise encompasses corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Renewable Energy Transactions, and Market Regulations. Sushmita has successfully anchored numerous projects related to open access markets, guiding corporate and government entities through the intricacies of renewable power procurement and regulatory compliance. She has been a trusted advisor to key renewable energy developers, assisting with entry strategies, regulatory support, and PPA scouting. In addition to her extensive power sector experience, Sushmita plays a significant role in the sustainability field, contributing to a range of impactful projects. Notably, she was the project manager for an FCDO project focused on implementing sustainable mobility solutions in Shimla and Chandigarh. Her expertise also extends to carbon markets, where she has been instrumental in projects designed to enhance resilience in cities across Asia, including Khulna in Bangladesh and Rajkot in India. In the hydrogen space, Sushmita has led several prominent projects, including her current role as the lead for a prestigious International Solar Alliance project. This initiative is dedicated to creating pathways for the commercialization of green hydrogen. Additionally, she has contributed to the U.S. Department of the Interior’s International Technical Assistance Program (ITAP) by delivering hydrogen training workshops in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Sushmita’s broad expertise spans power and renewables, hydrogen, sustainability, and carbon markets, reflecting her leadership in driving innovative solutions for a sustainable future. She holds a Master’s in Urban Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. Her deep knowledge and experience continue to advance impactful solutions in renewable energy and environmental stewardship
