Managing Director,
Global Energy Alliance (GEA)
Umang is the Managing Director, Grids of The Future at the Global Energy Alliance (GEA). In this role, he collaborates with GEA’s global teams to deploy innovative technology solutions and data tools to accelerate energy transition and grid modernization in the global south markets. Currently, he spearheads the development of scalable business models for deploying grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and grid digitization, working alongside philanthropic, public and private sector stakeholders. With over 18 years of experience in the clean energy and social impact sectors, Umang has successfully led business development initiatives for organizations such as Smart Power India, d.light, and Greenway Grameen Infra. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Pune University and is a Fellow of the Uncharted Institute, USA.
