CEO, Anusandhan National Research Foundation
Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman is the CEO of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), appointed by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. He brings a distinguished career across academia, industry, and research, most recently serving as CTO for the Energy Industry in Asia at Microsoft. Prior to that, he was Executive General Manager at GE Power Conversion, leading new business development in e-Mobility, industrial solar, and AI-driven digital innovations. Dr. Shiv has also held key roles at IBM Research - as Chief Scientist in Australia and at IBM Research India---and was previously a tenured Full Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), New York. He holds degrees from IIT Madras (B.Tech, Computer Science), Ohio State University (MS, PhD), and an Executive MBA from RPI. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from both IIT Madras and Ohio State University (2021), and is recognized as a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, ACM Distinguished Scientist, and a Microsoft Gold Club honoree (2024). In 1999, he was named one of MIT Technology Review's TR100 Top Innovators.
