An electronics and communication engineering graduate of 1987, Aurindam Bhattacharya has vast experience in varied fields of computing and communications. Bhattacharya worked in Electronics Corporation of India Limited with the mainframe unit and also handled the design, testing and deployment aspects of strategic communication systems for the defense sector, specifically the air force and army. Bhattacharya then joined the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in 1993. He handled the computing needs and acted as solution architect for various projects, including Intelligent Networks, Data Clearing House, operations support system and more recently the mission-critical Centralised Monitoring System. Bhattacharya has played an instrumental role in bringing out the IP version 6 (IPv6) road map document version 1 and 2 as a core team member with the networks and technologies cell of DoT. DoT also selected him as one of the IPv6 consultants. He currently leads IoT and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication in C-DOT, which involves coordinating the development of the oneM2M standards compliant C-DOT Common Service Platform. He was a key member of the group in DoT forming the policy document on M2M communication, and he co-authored the technical reports on the M2M gateway architecture and numbering plan while he was chairman of the gateway and architecture working group of Telecom Engineering Centre. He has also been one of the five leaders of the M2M and IoT security working group in Telecom Engineering Centre and contributed in the comprehensive security document. He is an advocate of standardizing M2M and IOT, participating and contributing actively in oneM2M, the international standardization body on M2M. He is also an active member in many working groups in various standardization bodies, including M2M working group in Telecom Standard Development Society of India, smart infrastructure working group in the Bureau of Indian Standard, and the standardization working group in the committee for formulation of policy for intelligent transportation system in Niti Aayog to name a few.
