Alan is a Masters degree educated Electrical Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in business development, corporate development and general management. Alan started his career with PwC supporting customers in the utilities and technology sectors with audit and advisory services before joining QinetiQ to develop non-defence markets for their technology. He then brought together his business and technical knowledge as an Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Strathclyde focused on creation of new ventures from technology developed within the electronic and electrical engineering department. Alan was a founding member of Smarter Grid Solutions and has held various roles over the last 14 years within the company. Alan currently leads the global sales team but continues to work closely with customers around the world on their smart grid and grid modernisation projects. Smarter Grid Solutions is a leading provider of Distributed Energy Resource Management System software and was acquired by Mitsubishi Electric in 2021.
