Chief – Operations, Safety, Business Excellence and TQM Tata Power-Delhi Distribution Limited

Mr.Subrata Das is a power sector veteran presently heading the Operations & Safety (O&S), Business Excellence (BE) and Total Quality Management (TQM) at Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited. As the Chief of the O&S vertical, his responsibilities include Competency Management, Central Enforcement Activity, Energy Meter/Smart Meter Management, HV/LV Distribution projects implementation, Complete Network Operations & its Maintenance, Energy Audit, safety including new technological innovation and products in implementation of Safety. In addition, he manages stakeholder expectation with overall objective of corporate governance and driving business results. He is involved in policy advocacy with the Government for drives related to anti-encroachment, loss reduction, space utilization, monitoring of statutory and regulatory compliance of the company in terms of the laid down guidelines and plays a leading role in adoption of TQM to achieve reliability and AT&C Loss Level targets. A staunch advocate of technological advancement, Mr. Das has actively contributed in the adoption of state-of-art technologies like Advanced Distribution Management Systems, SCADA-DMS, EMS, Grid Substation Automation, HVDS, ABC for LT and HT, GIS, Smart Metering, Enterprise Communication Infrastructure, Advanced Maintenance Planning and Reliability Management implemented for distribution network, distribution transformers and distribution equipment. He initiated Meter testing lab for monitoring new tamper features and its effect on energy meter recording. Mr. Das plays a leading role in CAPEX & OPEX optimization through business process reengineering, manpower realignment. He represents the company in various national and international forums for benchmarking of process and sharing of best practices. Mr. Das has served the company in various capacities including Central enforcement group & Circle Head. During his tenure as Circle Head in Sub-Urban Circle (primarily catering to rural areas of Tata Power-DDL geography).
