Prof. Bijaya Ketan (B.K.) Panigrahi is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where he serves as a senior academic leader and the founding head of the Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART). A world-class authority in power systems, his research integrates artificial intelligence and machine learning to solve complex problems in power system operation, control, and protection. He is particularly renowned for his work on smart grids, microgrids, and the technical challenges associated with large-scale renewable energy integration. His recent research has been instrumental in advancing India's electric mobility transition, focusing on the design of EV charging infrastructure, battery management systems (BMS), and analyzing the impact of high-speed charging on grid stability. A prolific scholar with over 750 research publications, he is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), and the National Academy of Sciences (NASI), India. His contributions bridge the critical gap between computational intelligence theory and the real-world deployment of robust, sustainable electrical infrastructure.
