Regional Representative for Central and South Asia, Verra

Ashok Kumar is the Regional Representative for Central and South Asia. He is responsible for engaging with governments, development banks, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders in the region. His main role is to provide support in developing carbon pricing initiatives and operationalizing Article 6. Additionally, he provides assistance to project developers who use Verra programs in Central and South Asia. Ashok is a postgraduate in Energy and Environment from the School of Energy and Environmental Studies (SEES, Indore, India) and has 20 years of experience in the Validation & Verification of carbon credits projects, EIA, Safety Audits, Water Audits, Energy Audits, and Assurance to Sustainability Report and GHG Inventories. Prior to joining Verra, he worked for URS, RINA, IIT, Roorkee, Verve Consulting, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. He has work experience in countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Oman, and Italy. Ashok is an accredited professional from the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), and he has conducted water audits and training programs on water audits for numerous governments and public sector organizations. Ashok is a Lead Auditor for ISO 14064 and ISO 14001 and a trained professional for the Sustainability Reporting for GRI Standard and ESG reporting as well. He is a trained professional on ISO 17029. Ashok enjoys business networking, music, travel, reading, and discussing environmental issues.
